Five reasons why Erling Haaland should join Real Madrid over Barcelona

When Erling Haaland scored a record 9 goals against Honduras at the 2019 FIFA under 20 World Cup in Poland, many would have believed that; “Oh it is just an age grade tournament, so anything can happen.”

If a soothsayer had told Erling Haaland when he was 15 years that he would at some point be one of the most sought after young striker in the world, he wouldn’t have doubted most likely considering how firm he believes in his abilities in front of goal.

I bet you didn’t know he was born in Leeds, England? Yes, he was. He is the son of former Nottingham Forest, Leeds United and Manchester City defender Alf-Inge Håland, and former women’s heptathlon athlete Gry Marita Braut.

At age 20, Erling Haaland has shown that he doesn’t need time to settle down into a league before he starts scoring.

He is known for his pace, power and precision in front of goal which is why he is, at the moment coveted by the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City and a not too distant Manchester United who couldn’t sign him about two summers ago.

Real Madrid and Barcelona at the moment are the top clubs jostling for his signature after his agent, “Super Agent” Mino Raiola” held a meeting with both clubs in Spain yesterday.

Erling is that kind of player that will walk into any top club and hit the ground running almost immediately but here is we think he should join Real Madrid instead of Barcelona;

1. Direct Heir to Benzema

Karim Benzema is not getting younger even though the French striker has been prolific since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018 with 80 goals so far Los Blancos. However, Erling Haaland is young and as prolific, if not more than the French striker at the moment. The Norwegian has scored 31 goals this season.

2. He has the “Galacticos Profile”

If you listen to Erling Haaland’s interviews, you would sense an undertone of pride, confidence which is what an average Galacticos player especially a striker embodies. Cristiano Ronaldo is a good example as well.

3. Trophies

If Barcelona will win any trophy henceforth, then Messi will most likely play a pivotal role but the future of the Argentine undecided at the moment, Haaland has a better chance of winning a trophy at Real Madrid who still have a stable squad and a better squad.

4. Money

Real Madrid at the moment will offer Erling Haaland more wages than Barcelona who are in a financial quagmire at the moment. Haaland earns about £150,000 a week at Borrusia Dortmund.

5. Style of Play

He will most likely fit in well into Zinedine Zidane squad’s where all balls come to him being a team that always plays with a traditional striker upfront.
