Five records to note as Tottenham like a double dose of Tsunami and Whirlwind sweep Manchester United away in a 6-1 annihilation at Old Trafford!

Manchester United suffered back to back Premier League home defeats this season as they were thoroughly beaten and decimated by a ruthless Tottenham Hotspur side led by former manager, Jose Mourinho.

Manchester United took the lead as early as the second minute via a penalty kick converted by Bruno Fermandes after Davinson Sanchez bright down Anthony Martial in the box.

Then Tottenham, like a double dose of a Tsunami and a whirlwind, swept Manchester United away in blistering fashion.

First, Harry Maguire, the £80m defender in an atrocious and horrendous defending, failed to head the ball out of danger as fouled his own player – Luke Shaw in the box which led to Tottenham’s equaliser via N’Dombele three minutes after United scorer.

Martial’s controversial red card after a scuffle with Eric Lamela, a brace from Son Heung-Ming and a brilliant finish from Harry Kane rounded-off a well-deserved 4-1 first half lead for Jose Mourinho’s men.

Just when the Red Devils thought their predicament was over, Serge Aurier who was allowed loafs of space added the fifth for Tottenham.

Harry Kane got his brace to make it 6-1 after Paul Pogba brougt down Lucas Moura in the box.

Here are five records to note;

  • Tottenham Hotspur are the first visiting away side to score four first half goals in a league game away at Manchester United since Spurs themselves also did so in November 1957 in a 4-3 win victory.
  • Manchester United conceded four goals in the first half of a Premier League match for the very first time, with this their 1,079th match in the competition.
  • Anthony Martial’s red card within 28 minutes is the earliest any Manchester United player has been sent off in the Premier League at Old Trafford, and it is their 16th of such dismissal in the competition.
  • Jose Mourinho is the first manager to score 5 goals away from home against a side he previously managed since Ole Gunnar Solksjaer put by past Cardiff City (5-1) in December 2018.
  • Manchester United conceded six goals at home for the first time since the 6-1 thrashing by Manchester City in October, 2011.
