Flying Eagles Beat Egypt To Claim Bronze At Under-20 AFCON

Flying Eagles ended their Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations campaign as the third best team as they beat host Egypt in the third place match.

The seven-time champions edged Egypt on 4-1 on penalties after the match ended one-all in regular and extra time.

Omar Osama gave the host the lead three minutes into the start of the match to register his fitsttgoal of the tournament.

The Flying Eagles,. despite dominating possession struggled in front of goal – as they have done in their previous matches in the tournament.

Ahmed Waheb had quite a busy day in between the sticks for Egypt as he made a couple of saves in the second half to stop the Flying Eagles efforts on goal.

The first half ended with the Young Pharoahs with the slim the lead over Nigeria.

Bidemi Amole scored his first goal of the tournament as he took advantage of a square ball into the box and buried the ball into the back of the net.

Despite their dominance, the Flying Eagles failed to take the lead as they missed a couple of chances after the equalizer.

Aliyu Zubairu’s boys survived a late scare as they survived a goal-mouth scramble as the host almost stole a late winner in added time.

The match went into penalties and the Flying Eagles outclassed the Egyptians as Emmanuel Chukwu, Isreal Ayuma, Kparabo Arierhi and Adamu Maigari converted with precision to give Nigeria a 4-1 win.
