Nigerian striker Gift Orban has resumed his goal-scoring duty with the start of the Belgian Jupiler League as he helped Genk secured a win in their first match of the new football season.
The 21-year-old striker was on for all 90 minutes and scored the last goal as Gent edged Kortrijk 3-2 at the Ghelamco Arena.
Gift Orban had a remarkable 2022/2023 football season as he scored 20 goals in 22 appearances for Gent.
The young striker was instrumental in Gent’s UEFA Europa Conference League as he scored 5 goals in 6 appearances before they were knocked out by eventual winners, Westham.
With his first league goal of the season registered, Orban will look to challenge his team mate Hugo Cuyper for the golden accolade this season. The Belgian striker won the accolade after he scored 27 goals and 8 assists in 39 appearances for Gent last season.
Gent will take on Zilina in the Europa Conference League qualification round before taking on KV Mechelen in their next league match.
