On July, 4th 2004 Greece shocked Portugal to win the UEFA European Championship.
Both teams met in the group stage earlier in the opening game of the tournament. Greece pulled off a shock 2-1 victory to stun the tournament hosts.
However, very little peoples expected Greece to have a good outing which would see them advance to the final.
In the final of the competition, they met host Portugal who were seeking revenge over the loss in the group stage.
Portugal were cheered by majority of the 62,865 fans in attendance at the Estádio da Luz, Lisbon
A young Cristiano Ronaldo looked lively for Portugal in the game but the first half ended goalless with both defenses coming out on top.
Angelos Charisteas would score in the 57th minute to put Greece ahead against the run of play.
That would be the only goal of the game as Greece shocked the hosts Portugal and the world to win against all odds.
