This story is one of many reasons why wonders or shocking events won’t end anytime soon. This story focuses on how Kraig Kahler murdered his wife and two kids in cold blood some years ago because he suspected that his wife was having an affair with a Lesbian with whom he wanted them to have a threesome.
Kraig Kahler killed his wife and children after introducing her to a lesbian partner that broke up their marriage, a court heard.
Prosecutors claim that James Kraig Kahler wanted to bring another woman into the couple’s sex life, prompting Karen Kahler to begin a lesbian affair, which he then blamed for their marriage’s demise.
Later, a defense attorney for Kansas-based, who faces the death penalty if convicted, dismissed that claim as “a fantasy.”
Kahler, 48, is being accused of fatally shooting his estranged wife, her grandmother and the Kahlers’ two teenage daughters.
Kraig Kahler killed them with an automatic weapon in his wife’s grandmother’s home near Burlingame, about 20 miles south of Topeka, the weekend after Thanksgiving 2009. Kahler’s lawyers claim he had been mentally ill for months.
They claim he had hallucinations and was obsessed with his wife’s relationship with another lady and her divorce proceedings.
Karen Kahler’s divorce attorney, Dan Pingelton, testified that her spouse introduced her to Sunny Reese of Weatherford, Texas.
Mrs. Kahler’s relationship with Reese, according to James Kraig Kahler and his attorneys, caused the union to end.
‘Karen indicated to me that Kraig wanted to bring another partner into the marriage,’ Pingelton testified during the criminal trial in Lyndon.
‘She indicated to me that Kraig wanted to do a threesome.’
Months after being fired from his job as the director of the water department in Columbia, Missouri, James Kahler committed a series of killings. The incident took place in Meriden, Kan., northeast of Topeka.
The victims were Karen Kahler, 44; her grandmother, Dorothy Wight, 89, and the Kahlers’ daughters, Emily, 18, and Lauren, 16. Sean, the Kahlers’ son who was 12 years old at the time, witnessed the shootings but was unharmed and managed to escape. During a recent testimony, Sean stated that he saw his father fatally shoot his mother.
The reason behind the affair between the two women was repeatedly attributed to Reese by the accused, who further claimed that it was conducted openly in front of the Kahler children. In the divorce proceedings, a settlement hearing was scheduled for early December 2009, with a trial set only a few days before Christmas.
Karen Kahler had initiated divorce proceedings in January 2009 and vacated the family home by March.
The accused described the situation as becoming increasingly contentious over time. Despite Haney’s repeated claims of Kahler being a devoted father and husband, Pingelton persisted in his view, stating that it was an informed opinion.
Additionally, Kahler faced a misdemeanor battery charge in Missouri at the time of the shootings. According to evidence presented during the capital murder trial, Kahler had attempted to embrace his estranged wife, who was unwilling to be touched by him.
