Nigeria candidate Amaju Melvin Pinnick recorded a landslide margin of victory by defeating sitting member and Malawi FA boss Walter Nyamilandu 43-8 votes to clinch a seat on the FIFA Council at the 43rd Ordinary and Elective General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football in Rabat, Morocco on Friday.

The NFF President’s path to victory was softened by the withdrawal of four of the contestants, leaving the way for him and Nyamilandu to win the two seats zoned to Anglo-phone Africa.

An elated NFF Secretary General Dr Mohammed Sanusi, who cast Nigeria’s vote at the election, thanked Nigerians and all those who made it possible for Pinnick to win.

There was also a heavy Nigerian presence in Morocco to support the bid of Pinnick for the exalted seat.

Among those in Rabat was NFF board member and Chairperson, Nigeria Women Football League, Aisha Falode, who took time out to take a picture with FIFA Secretary General, Fatma Samoura, during break at the CAF General Assembly.
