Nigeria candidate Amaju Melvin Pinnick recorded a landslide margin of victory by defeating sitting member and Malawi FA boss Walter Nyamilandu 43-8 votes to clinch a seat on the FIFA Council at the 43rd Ordinary and Elective General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football in Rabat, Morocco on Friday.

An elated NFF Secretary General Dr Mohammed Sanusi, who cast Nigeria’s vote at the election, thanked Nigerians and all those who made it possible for Pinnick to win.

There was also a heavy Nigerian presence in Morocco to support the bid of Pinnick for the exalted seat.

Among those in Rabat was NFF board member and Chairperson, Nigeria Women Football League, Aisha Falode, who took time out to take a picture with FIFA Secretary General, Fatma Samoura, during break at the CAF General Assembly.

The NFF President also had domestic support with his wife on ground to lend moral support.

A handful  of Nigerian delegates including NFF vice presidents Barr Seyi Akinwumi and Shehu Dikko as well as Nigerian-born CAF officials also registered their presence and solidarity at the CAF Congress.
