Sunday Shodipe escaped from Police custody on the 23rd of August after he was initially arrested by the police in Ibadan on the 11th.
However, he was re-arrested in his hideout along Iwo Road, Ibadan by “a group with the additional aid of a tactical team who had previously worked with the Special Adviser on Security Matters to Governor Makinde, Fatai Owoseni in Akure.” a news source reported.
While speaking to newsmen, Sunday Shodipe said the residents of the area saw him escaped from the Mokola Police Station but they didn’t say anything or raise any alarm.
Sunday Shodipe said;
“The new female DPO asked officer Funsho to allow me to take my bath. He cautioned me not to try to escape when I am taking my bath.
“I escaped when I saw him discussing with another person. I climbed the borehole pole and jumped the fence. The people living in the area saw me when I escaped but they did not raise any alarm.”
Former Police spokesperson, DCP Frank Mbah said on a radio programme on Lagos Talks earlier today that the Police Force is highly embarrassed as regards the escape of the suspect and the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has ordered a full investigation into the matter and those involved will be made to face the law.
