How Nigeria won AFCON in 1980 – Segun Odegbami with Mumini Alao [Video] 2

40 years ago, on March 22 1980, Nigeria joined the list of countries to lift the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) when the Green Eagles (as they were then called) trounced the Desert Warriors of Algeria 3-0 in front of thousands of delirious home fans at the National Stadium, Lagos.

Star of that memorable triumph, the inimitable ‘Mathematical’ Segun Odegbami who scored twice in the final, narrates Nigeria’s road to glory in this documentary with foremost sports journalist Mumini Alao.

Odegbami’s power of recall of some of the minutest actions will astound you.

Happy viewing.
