Cleansing, without an iota of doubt, is the first and most important step you need to take in your journey to having a clear and skin everyone around you will be jealous of.
From the word “cleanser” you should already have a glimpse of what it does. However, if don’t, don’t bother racking your brain, the definition is in the next paragraph.
A liquid solution either foaming or non-foaming which is used in cleaning or wiping off sweat, dirt and other forms of impurities from your face can be referred to as a Water-based cleaner.
It is not the case that water is the only ingredient used in formulating it but the point is, water is the main or major component. Other Ingredients include Retinol, Salicylic Acid, Ceramides among others.
Which Water-based cleanser is best for you?
There are various types of water-based cleanser and the type to use depends on the type of skin you have and what you want to achieve. It is also important to note that water-based cleanser comes in three basic forms; gel, foam and cleansing waters and each of them have effects on different skin types.
The foam cleanser is the most common type and they are very effective in terms of removing impurities from the skin and they also help.in clearing up first from on your face before applying make-up. However, some foam cleansers can lead to skin dryness as a result of their compositions.
If you have oily skin, you consider using a foam cleanser like the Mediheal Intensive Pore Cleansing Foam which helps to drastically reduce excess oil from your skin. It also helps to remove debris in your pores. The Mediheal Intensive Pore Cleansing Foam is considered one of the best as it contains a mushroom extract that helps to regulate excess oil production from your skin.
Also, it contains Zinc which helps to smoothens your skin. You can also consider the Dr Oracle A-Thera Cleansing Form.
Gel Cleansers are good for those that have dry skin. Unlike Foam Cleansers, they don’t foam but they are mild on your face nonetheless. So you just have to apply it on your face and rinse them off afterwards. When picking a gel cleanser for your dry skin, it is important to pick the one with hyaluronic acid, glycerin and Aloe Vera because all these are moisturizing agents. You can use the CeraVe Hydrating Face Wash, Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel or the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Gel Cleanser.
The first thing you need to know is that Cleansing Water is different from the popular Micellar Water. While Micellar Water is formulated with some oily particles which are great at cleaning up your make-up as well as removing toxins from your skin. Michelle Water is a “soft water” according to skin therapy expert, Cassandra Bankson.
However, Cleansing Water is a “purified H2O” that helps in removing water-based contaminants on your skin. Also, cleansing water helps to tone the skin with regular usage. You can use the Klavuu Pure Pearlsation Marine Collagen Micro Cleansing Water or Sephora Collection Triple Action Cleansing Water.
For Micellar Water, there are a lot of products to use but these are our favourites; Simple Skincare Micellar Cleansing Water, La-Roche Posay Effaclar Purifying Micellar Water and Caudalie Makeup Removal Cleansing Water.
How and When to use Water-based Cleansers.
Usage depends on the particular one you are using. If you are using the cleansing or Micellar Water, just pour it on a cotton ball and apply it on your face and there is no need to rinse it off afterwards unlike the foaming or gel cleanser.
For the other two, you have to apply them on the palm, rub it together, apply it on your face then rinse afterwards.
When to use them quite preferential in the sense that you can use it based on when you feel like it. For, instance, if you can use the cleansing water at night probably after double-cleansing.
