Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo was on target as Manchester United defeated Norwich City 2-1 at Carrow Road on Saturday to reach the semi-final of the FA Cup with the former Super Eagles forward aiming to shoot himself into the record books as the seventh Nigerian player to win the world’s oldest club competition.

Ighalo is gunning to follow in the footsteps of former international compatriots Daniel Amokachi (Everton: 1995); Celestine Babayaro (Chelsea: 2000); Kanu Nwankwo (Arsenal: 2002; Portsmouth: 2008); John Utaka (Portsmouth: 2008); John Mikel Obi (Chelsea: 2007, 2009, 2012); and Victor Moses (Chelsea: 2018) who have all lifted the coveted trophy.

After a goalless first half, Ighalo provided the breakthrough for Manchester United in the 51st minute.
