First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has finally made a formal statement in the swirling paternity scandal allegedly involving its Managing Director Adam Nuhu, a former staff Moyo Thomas and her estranged husband Tunde Thomas who died recently reportedly from heartbreak.
According to media reports, the Managing Director was allegedly romantically involved with Moyo Thomas while she was married to the deceased.
She left for the United States of America ostensibly on holidays but called her husband to inform him she was not coming back and that he was not the father of the two children.
This led to depression for the man who eventually succumbed to the hands of death and was buried on Saturday January 2, 2021.
The Bank had been under pressure to sack the Managing Director with about 1500 signatures gathered on a petition to compel the Bank to act.
After keeping a studied silence since the scandal broke, the management of the Bank finally reacted in a statement on Saturday.
It said: “We are aware of several stories circulating across several media platforms about our Managing Director Adam Nuru, a former employee Ms Moyo Thomas and her deceased husband, Mr Tunde Thomas.
“While this is a personal matter, the tragedy of the death of Mr Tunde Thomas and the allegations of unethical conduct, require the Bank’s board to conduct a review of what transpired, any violations of our code of ethics and the adequacy of these code of conduct ethics. This will be done immediately.
“We enjoin all our stakeholders to bear with us as we conduct this review and to please respect the various families involved.
“Thank you.”
Whether this reaction will be acceptable remains to be seen.

The family of the deceased has to sue the bank and its md, mr Nuru. It shouldnt be regarded as a personal matter. The inappropriate affairs happened while the two were in the employ of the bank. Its unethical indeed. There will be (deposit) run on the bank if the mgt mishandles the matter. This is a case of official misconduct. The bank will have to choose between the md and their disgruntled customers. And even the likelihood of litigation by the deceased family. The scandal will not end soon.
