Roberto Mancini-led Italy began their Euro2020 campaign on an emphatic and commendable note as they thrash Turkey 3-0 in front of their home fans at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
In a one-sided affair, the Italians dominated the match from start to finish as they left their opposition chasing the ball for most of the game.
An own-goal from Demiral, Insigne, and Ciro Immobile in the second half ensured that the Italians got off to a good start as they top group A with 3 points and three goals at the moment.
The Azzurri’s, for the first time in the history of their participation in the European Championship, scored three goals. It is also the first time that the competition will witness a margin as high as three in an opener.
With the 3 nil victory over Turkey, Mancini’s men have now kept nine consecutive clean sheets.
On the other hand, Turkey have now lost their last seven openers I.e both the World Cup and European Championship.
