Josh Okogie who plays for Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA speaks on death of George Floyd in Minneapolis (Video)
Okogie who is 21-years-old gave his opinion on the Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chavin killing black American George Floyd.
Okogie who represented Nigeria’s men’s senior basketball team D’Tigers at the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup also plays for NBA franchise the Minnesota Timberwolves based in Minneapolis.
Okogie took to his official Instagram account to posts a message which said, “We need each other now more than ever. I am immensely disgusted in the amount of pain and suffering that my fellow black brothers and sisters have to endure until change happens. We can no longer be alienated and we can no longer normalize the injustices that this system of oppression feeds us.
“No more lives need to be lost. No more kids, moms, dads, and loved ones need to die before we can make change. I do not condone violence, but what is it going to take for the world to hear our cry? We are strong and as long as we stay together, there will always be light at the end of the tunnel.
“As a resident of Minnesota this is unacceptable and should not be a representation of who we are… to my brother @_stak5_ my condolences to you and your family and also the Floyd family. @tamikadmallory thank you for standing up and using your voice so our cries can be heard. @karltowns @iamjamiefoxx I appreciate you all standing with the cause. Lastly, thank you @fashiondree for catalyzing everything. #BlackLivesMatter #justiceforgeorgefloyd.”
Okogie joined teammate Karl Anthony Towns and former NBA player Stephen Jackson in a peaceful protest on the death of George Floyd.
