Two days after suspected armed bandits kidnapped 39 students from the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Mando, Kaduna, another attempt was made to kidnap another set of students.
According to reports, the armed bandits attempted to kidnap students of Government Science College, Ikara but their attempt was foiled by a combined team of the Nigerian Military, Police and other security agents.
Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs., confirmed that all the 307 students of the school are safe after the attack was foiled in the early hours of Sunday morning.
“The attempted kidnap was foiled. Fortunately, the students utilised the security warning system and were thus able to alert security forces. The security forces comprise the Nigerian Army and the Police with some security volunteers moved swiftly to the school to engage the bandits, the military and police are currently trailing the bandits.”
Daily Trust reports that this is the third failed attempt by security agents in the state.
