Lagos State Commisioner of Police, Mr Hakeem Odumosu is currently in an emergency meeting with members of the state’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) based on the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.
The Commissioner of Police was seen addressing the SARS operatives on the strict adherence to the directives of the Inspector-General of Police.
This development was made known by the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on New Media, Mr. Jubril Gawat via his Twitter page.
The Police Chief, yesterday placed a ban on SARS and other tactical units “from carrying out routine patrols and other conventional low-risk duties – stop and search duties, checkpoints, mounting of roadblocks, traffic checks, etc – with immediate effect”
The Inspector-General of Police also. banned the operatives from operating without uniforms and checking the personal devices of people .
This comes after a public outcry by the citizens on social media yesterday against the unprovoked activities of SARS which unfortunately have led to the loss of lives in recent times.
