Manchester City has confirmed that its German international midfielder, Ilkay Gundogan has tested positive for COVID-19.
This was made known to the public via a statement on the club’s official website a few minute ago.
The statement reads;
Manchester City FC can confirm that Ilkay Gundogan has tested positive for COVID-19.
Ilkay is now observing a 10-day period of self-isolation in accordance with Premier League and UK Government protocol on quarantine.
Everyone at the Club wishes Ilkay a speedy recovery.
Ilkay Gundogan becomes the third Manchester City player to test positive for the virus in the space of three weeks after Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte also tested positive for the virus on the 7th of September.
Manchester City are away at Wolverhampton Wanderers tonight as they kick-start their 2020/2021 Premier League season.
