North London giant, Arsenal have completed the signing of Norwegian midfielder, Martin Odegaard on loan from Spanish Champions, Real Madrid for the remainder of the season.
Martin Odegaard aged 22 joins Arsenal on yet another loan spell in his career having the last few years on loan at Dutch Eredivisie side, Heerenveen, Vitesse and Real Sociedad where he blossomed.
Arsenal confirmed the arrival of the attacking midfielder in a series of tweets and also via a statement from Edu Gaspar, the technical director of the club on its official website.
We are delighted to welcome Martin to the club until the end of the season. I would like to thank everyone at Real Madrid and Martin’s representatives for their collaboration in making this loan move happen. Martin is an exceptional talent and we are strengthening our squad by introducing an exciting offensive player to the club for the remaining months of this season.
Mikel Arteta added that the club is excited to have Martin Odegaard as he will provide the club with more offensive options and creativity.
It’s great that we’ve secured Martin to come to us until the end of the season. Martin is, of course, a player that we all know very well and although still young, he has been playing at the top level for a while. Martin will provide us with quality offensive options and we’re all excited to be integrating him into our plans between now and May.
Martin Odegaard will don jersey number 11 as he looks to probably secure a permanent deal with the Gunners at the end of May after struggling for minutes after he was recalled by Real Madrid in September.
