Brazilian centre-back, Thiago Silva has signed the Chelsea on a 12 month deal with an option to extend for a further year.
The 35-year-old defender joined from French Champions and 2020 UEFA Champions League finalist, PSG after his contract expired after their 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich.
On signing for Chelsea, he said;
“I am so happy to be joining Chelsea, I am here to win trophies, see you soon…” His statement partly read.
Thiago Silva is Chelsea’s fifth signing of the season after the arrival of Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Malang Sarr, Xavier Mbuyamba and Ben Chilwell.
The seven-time French Ligue 1 Champions did his medical in Milan last night, signed his contract a few minutes ago and he’s expected in London later today according to reports.
Thiago Silva’s will look to improve Chelsea’s poor defence as Frank Lampard’s side conceded the most goals in the league among the top six with 54.
