Lai Mohamed insists Twitter must register in Nigeria before ban is suspended
There is an update on the ban on microblogging site Twitter by the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Foreign social media platforms must register in Nigeria before they can operate in the country according to the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed.
The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) must issue licenses to top media service and social media operations in the country according to the minister.
He reiterated that Twitter was being used for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence and confirmed that to resolve the stalemate that has left millions without access to the popular platform the company has reached out to the government for high-level talks
Lai Mohamed then went on to state that before the Twitter suspension can be lifted he company registering as a business concern in Nigeria is one of the conditions to be fulfilled
