Make that BIG move now! – Fashanu tells Paul Onuachu

Ex-Wimbledon star, John Fashanu has urged Super Eagles striker, Paul Onuachu to make a move away from Belgian to one of Europe’s top five leagues.

Fashanu said this while speaking with PUNCH Extra during a recent interview.

Paul Onuachu has been in fantastic form the past 12 months for his clubside Genk as he bagged 35 goals in 41 appearances last season which earned him not only the Player of the Season Award but also the league’s Top Scorer Award.

The 6ft striker has also begun the current football season on a brilliant note with 11 goals in 12 matches – he scored a hat trick recently against Seraing in the Belgian First Division league on Sunday.

According to Fashanu;

“I think it’s time for Onuachu to move before things get a little bit sour. And I think this is him saying remember me I am one of the best goal scorers in the business.

It is time for him to move on. One thing in football is that you don’t stay longer than two seasons at one club when you are climbing to the top. These are by no means he is not at the top and he needs to use the clubs as stairs until he gets to the top.

If he gets to Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona or Liverpool then fine, that’s what we are really saying. He needs to understand that when you are playing with players lesser than you they are the ones learning and he is not. We want a situation where he is playing at some of the biggest clubs where every day he is learning something new and even the reserve players are as good as him. We want him to be learning and not giving out his secrets to other players.

“The transfer window doesn’t open for long and this is when he needs to move. We don’t want him at that club for another year and he will be stagnant.”

Paul Onuachu has been linked with a move away from Genk since the end of last season but the former Midtjylland striker seems to be having a good time with the Belgian side.
