Pep Guardiola’s side began their Premier League season on an impressive note as they thrashed Nuno Espiritoย Santo’s side 1-3 away from home.
Premier League’s currentย Player’s Player of the Year, Kevin De Bruyne gave the away side the lead via the penalty spot after the Belgian was brought down in the box.
Phil Foden also got on the score sheet to double the advantage for Manchester City before half time as they went into the break with a comfortable lead.
Raul Jimenez scored a brilliant header to give Manchester City a scare with a quarter of an hour left to play but Gabriel Jesus put the game further beyond the home side with the last goal of the match.

A total of 44 goals were scored on match day 2 – the most in a single match week in a 20 team Premier League season.
