It was a night of contrasting fortunes at the Saint Mary’s Stadium as Southampton secured their 5th home win of the season while Manchester City recorded their 9th defeat of the season.
After a blistering 4-0 annihilation of the Champions on Thursday night, Pep Guardiola’s men took their feet off the pedal in a well deserved 1-0 loss to the Saints.
Ché Adam’s first half strike from range made the difference on the night as Manchester City failed to break through a resolute defense line of the home side in the second half.

The Saints are now two points off the top half half of the log as they seat in 13th place with 43 points.
Manchester City have now failed to win.an away match in their last three attempts with losses against Manchester United, Chelsea and now Southampton.
