Rivers United forward Mark Theo Gibson has said that his team will overcome Etoile Filante in their CAF Conderation Cup preliminary round second leg match on Sunday, October 1 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.
The first leg of the encounter ended in 0-0 draw at the Stade Muncipal, Yamoussoukro on September 17.
In a video posted on the Pride of Rivers X (formerly known as Twitter) handle, Gibson exuded confidence ahead of the match up.
“The feeling is good,” Gibson said.
“We are trying to make the Nigerians proud, we are going to give them that victory that they wish for.
“We are calling on all our supporters to come out enmasse to support Rivers United on Sunday
“We promise to entertain the fans with our football. As a group we are working tirelessly to come out victorious against Etoile Filante.”
Gibson hails from the West African nation of Liberia.
The Nigerian Premier Football League resumes on September 30.
The Pride of Rivers were expected to play Remo Stars this weekend but it was postponed due to their continental game with Etoile Filante.
Bendel Insurance also had their Nigerian Premier Football League game with Enyimba postponed due to their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round second leg tie with RSB Berkane.
A total of eight NPFL games will be held this weekend.
