On July, 8th 2014 Germany produced one of the greatest performances to beat Brazil 7-1 in the semifinals of the World Cup.

Brazil were favourites for the World Cup on home soil but lost two key players Neymar and captain Thiago Silva unable to play after their win against Colombia in the semifinals.

Those absentees would be costly for Brazil as Germany went in from as early as the 11th minute when Thomas Müller converted from a corner kick in the 11th minute.

Miroslav Klose made it a two-goal lead to Germany in the 23rd minute. Klose’s strike was his 16th in the World Cup and meant he set of competition record-breaking Ronaldo’s tally of 15.

Toni Kroos scored in the 24th and 26th minute as the lead became four while Sami Khedira made it five in the 29th minute.

Coming into the second half with a five-goal advantage, Germany did not stop as André Schürrle scored in the 69th and 79th minute to now have a seven-goal lead.

Oscar scored a consolation for Brazil in the 9oth minute but the record semifinal win was set by Germany in front of 58,141 fans in attendance at Estádio Mineirão, Belo Horizonte.
