Mumini Alao wins Industry Icon award at 2020 Ballers Awards

Mumini Alao, Group Managing Director of CCL, Nigeria’s largest sports media group, has been named winner of the Industry Icon award at the 3rd edition of the prestigious Ballers Awards 2020.

The award, which held on Saturday, recognised Alao’s contribution to the development of football in Nigeria during his days as an active journalist and now in charge of the Complete Communications Limited group, publishers of Complete Sports and other allied titles.

At the impressive award ceremony anchored by Emmanuel Sabastine and the delectable Simi Drey, there were other winners of the award which was created to celebrate excellence in Nigerian football.

Super Eagles and Napoli of Italy striker Victor Osimhen was voted Footballer of the Year (Male) and he also carted home the Forward of the Year gong.

Super Falcons captain and Barcelona forward Asisat Oshoala won the Footballer of the Year (Female) while FC Porto of Portugal defender Saidu Sanusi was picked as the Revelation of the Year after a breakthrough year in which he joined the Portuguese giants and made his Super Eagles debut.

England based duo of Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi and Fulham’s Ola Aina won the Midfielder and Defender of the Year category respectively as South Africa-based Daniel Akpeyi was picked as the Goalkeeper of the Year.

Other awardees are Falcon’s former star Perpetual Nkwocha who was named Legendary Footballer of the Year and Shina Oludare who won in the Journalist of the Year category.

In its third edition, the Ballers Award is regarded as the true celebration of the best of Nigerian football and footballers.
