Sunday, March 8th was a sad day for the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) as Chieme Martins of Nassarawa United died.

Martins died as a result of collision with a Katsina United player on the pitch.

At the stadium there was reportedly insufficient medical assistance available to take care of the situation and the ambulance was also in bad shape.

By the time Martins got to the hospital he was confirmed dead shortly after.

Upon receiving the new of the death of Martins his teammates were devastated and burst into tears.

This is the second death of an domestic player this season following the loss of Tiyamu Kazeem of Remo Stars allegedly at the hands of the Special Anti Robbery squad of the Nigerian Police Force (SARS)
