NCDC warns Nigerians not to drink bleach as treatment for Coronavirus
Nigerians have been advised by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC)not to use bleach as a treatment for the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
There have been reports circulating social media that bleach can be used as a precautionary treatment for the Coronavirus.
The rumour has string backing when the United States of America Department of Homeland Security’s Science and Technology Directorate William Bryan revealed a result that his government has started research which proved that Coronavirus gets weakened by heat and that the use of bleach kills the virus.
The NCDC quickly took to their official Twitter account to advise Nigerians not to use bleach as it could cause different complications and even lead to death.
The message by the NCDC said, “It is important to note that bleach & other disinfectants should be used to clean surfaces. They should NOT be consumed by people to treat #COVID19
“Drinking bleach & disinfectants can lead to health complications & even death. Please share widely!.”
