NFF appoints Madugu, Okon into Super Falcons technical crew!

The Nigeria Football Federation have named coaches Justin Madugu and Edwin Okon to join the Super Falcons’ technical staff on Tuesday, following a recent decision to rejig the team’s technical staff.

Madugu was named the Falcons’ new first assistant coach in a meeting presided over by NFF president Amaju Pinnick at the federation’s headquarters in Abuja. Former women’s national team coach Edwin Okon is now the squad’s chief scout.

Randy Waldrum retains his role as head coach, while Ann Chiejine takes over as second assistant coach, and Wemimo Matthew takes over as head coach of the Falconets’ U-20 women’s squad.

I want to see a Super Falcons’ squad that is feared by the opposition not only in Africa but all over the world. I trust that you two (Madugu and Okon) will bring some positive difference to our golden Super Falcons. I don’t want to see our Falcons struggling against teams in Africa when we should actually be going toe-to-toe with the best teams in the world,” Pinnick stated.

“From now, we will scout for more players at home and abroad, particularly at home, and we will start organizing camps for the Super Falcons on the home front even before the overseas-based players arrive. We must make the effort and the investment to have a stronger squad that will continue to do Nigeria proud.”

Last month, the Falcons defeated Ghana’s Black Queens 2-1 on aggregate to advance to the AWCON final qualifying stage for next year.
