NFF, NSC Reach $100k Contract With Super Eagles Coach Eric Chelle

Eric Chelle to take charge of U-23 squad after $100k Super Eagles contract

The Nigeria Football Federation and the National Sports Commission and Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle have reportedly agreed on the terms of a contract renewal.

According to reports, all the parties involved met at a high-level meeting at the headquarters of the National Sports Commission in Abuja on Tuesday.

The new contract terms could see Eric Chelle earn up to $100,000 per month – a one hundred per cent increment on his previous salary.

As part of the terms of the contract, Eric Chelle will assume the duty of the head coach of Nigeria’s U-23 men’s football team ahead of the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028.

The Nigeria Football Federation and the National Sports Commission are set to make the official announcement in due course.

Eric Chelle was appointed coach of the Super Eagles in January 2025 on a two-year contract with the responsibility of qualifying Nigeria for the 2026 World Cup and a semi-final place at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Unfortunately, he narrowly missed out on qualifying for the World Cup losing on penalties to DR Congo during the CAF playoffs in November last year.

However, the Franco-Malian tactician led the Super Eagles to a third-place finish at the Nations Cup without losing a match in regular time.
