Nigerian army explain why they took bullets to Lekki Tollgate but did not use it
The Nigerian army have finally revealed that they were at the Lekki Tollgate venue for the protests to end the operations of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigerian Police Force on October 20, 2020.
This happened on Saturday, November 21 at the Lagos judicial panel where the investigation for the shootings continue.
Senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Olumide Fusika cross-examined commander of the 81 division of the Nigerian Army Ibrahim Taiwo who gave the response.
He then went on to state that the army was here to restore order in the area and even though they took blank bullets they shoot blank ones.
He went on to state why the Nigerian Army denied the involvement of its officers via its Twitter handle.
He said, ”The first statement was born out of the fact that we did not have the facts available to us and the second was because nobody was sent to the Lekki tollgate to breakup any protest.”
