English striker of Nigerian descent Chuba Akpom has sealed a move Dutch football giants Ajax Amsterdam after a very successful 2022/2023 season with Middlesbrough.
Akpom signed a five-year deal with Ajax for a fee in the region of € 12.3m which could rise to €14.3m based on stipulated clauses in his contract.
The prolific striker was unveiled today at the club where he signed his contract. Chuba Akpom will wear the number 10 jersey which was left vacant by club veteran Dusan Tadic.
Akpom shared his delight in joining the 36-time Dutch champions on his Twitter page: “

The 27-year-old was Middlesbrough’s most outstanding player last season as he registered 29 goals in 41 games which earned him the Golden Boot prize at the end of the season.
Chuba Akpom is an Arsenal Academy product and he featured for the under 21 and 23 sides as well as the first team a couple of times before he was sent on loan to teams in the lower division.
The striker left Arsenal at the end of the 2017/2018 season and went on to play for St. Truiden and PAOK before establishing himself at Middlesbrough.
Akpom will look to continue his goal-scoring form for Ajax as he hopes to get his first Nigeria national team call-up having played for the English junior teams in recent years.
