The Teranga Lions were made to rue Sadio Mane’s injury sustained just before the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar as they lost to the Netherlands in their first game at the tournament.
The Netherlands defeated Senegal 2-0 on November 21 at the Al Thumama Stadium.
The first half ended goal less as both teams tried to outdo each other.
However Cody Gakpo and Davy Klaasen scored in the 84th and 99th minute respectively to give Oranje the victory.
Mane has scored 33 goals in 92 games for Senegal. He has six goals and provided three assists in 14 Bundesliga matches this season.
The Netherlands are joint first in Group A with three points after matchday one. Senegal are third with zero points and a goal difference of -2.
The Mane(less) Senegalese will take on host nation Qatar next on the 25th of November at the Al Thumama stadium as they look to get their first win of the tournament.
