Watford FC striker, Emmanuel Dennis is among four Super Eagles players that will not be available at the Africa Cup of Nations next month.
A few minutes ago, reports suggested that the in-form striker was barred from participating at the tournament because the Nigeria Football Federation sent his invitation mail late.
However, according to an online blog centered on the affairs of the club, Emmanuel Dennis’ absence from the tournament is quite far from Watford allegedly receiving his invitation late.
Claudio Ranieri stating after the 4-1 defeat to West Ham on Tuesday: “I’m not so sure I will miss him now, I don’t know if he goes. Let’s think about it this week and then I will tell you.”
The national team has a time to send their precall, they don’t respect the days and I want to see very well.
“I know the email arrived late and I want to know everything. The national team has a time, during this time they have to send the precall, if they don’t send the precall, we can choose.”
The blog added that;
“The exact reason for the club being able to prevent him from attending is not entirely clear at the moment, but it is understood that the striker was not given the assurances that he would have liked about his position in the squad.”
“Had he been seen as a starter, he might have pushed harder to go to the tournament, but no guarantees were forthcoming.”
