Nothing Has Been Done! – Favour Ofili Calls Out AFN, NOC Over Negligence As Athletics Begins At Paris 2024 Olympics

Nigerian sprinter Favour Ofili has called out the Nigeria Athletics Federation and the National Olympic Committe for not carrying out any action after her name was ommitted from the list of participants for the Women’s 100m event at the ongoing Paris Olympic Games.

Recall that Naijasuperfans.com reported on 31st July that Favour Ofili will not participate at the event after she alleged that the AFN and NOC failed to list her name for the event.

However, a document signed by the the technical director of the AFN, Samuel Onikeku that showed that Favour ofili was indeed registered for the 100m, 200m and 4x100m events.

Favour ofili took to her X page to call out the two bodies for not doing anything to rescue the situation with the commencement of field and track events on Friday.

“Sadly, nothing has been done…. I’m yet to see or hear anyone is being punished for what the NOC and AFN did to me. Athletes shouldn’t be getting punished for things out of their control.”

She went on to raise a question whether it is World Athletics that gives the Athletics Federation of Nigeria and/or the National Olympic Committe the permission to register athletes for events after securing qualification.

Ofili also asked why World Athletics hasn’t punished either of the federation for not carrying out their duty.

“Who assigned federations and/or Olympic committees to enter athletes into Olympic Games? Is it World Athletics? If so, should they not hold them accountable when they fail to do their job by not entering athletes in events they qualify and want to compete?”

Favour ofili also accused the AFN and NOC for repeatedly sabotaging athletes in her closing remarks and she vowed to continue her struggle to het justice.

“NOC and AFN……….This is not the first time you guys are doing this so don’t think this is over because is not.”

Favour ofili is the national 100m champion and she currently has a timing of 11.07secs which she recorded at the Holloway Pro Classic in Florida last month.

Athletics has already started today at the Paris Olympic Games and Favour ofili is not included in any of the heats for the event.

Nigeria is represented by Tima Godbless and Rosemary Chukwuma.
