Newly-promoted Premier League side, Nottingham Forest are preparing a move for Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi, who has stated that he still wishes to play in the Premier League despite Liverpool’s decision to let him join Union Berlin in the Bundesliga.
Forest now have the funds to satisfy Awoniyi’s German club’s valuation of 20 million euros, thanks to their recent promotion to the English top flight.
Union Berlin paid seven million euros for the 24-year-old striker.
He scored 15 goals and added two assists for the capital city team last season.
In February, Awoniyi told Kicker that he hopes to return to the Premier League one day.
“Everyone knows that, including here at the club. If I lived in England, it would be easier for my wife and child. Also my sister and a brother live on the island,” he said.
Awoniyi was part of the the Super Eagkes team to the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon where he registered a goal in three appearances.
