Former Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins has returned to professional football in China.

Martins joins his former side Shanghai Greenland Shenhua in the Chines Super League (CSL).

Martins previously played for Shanghai Shenhua from 2016 till 2018.

He left the club after sustaining a career-ending injury that he has now recovered from.

Martins joins Shanghai Shenhua as a replacement for his compatriot another former Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo.

Ighalo extended his loan at Premier League giants Manchester United and will not be available for the start of the season.

At 35-years-old, Martins has played for several top sides such as Reggiana, Inter Milan, Newcastle United, VfL Wolfsburg, Rubin Kazan, Birmingham City, Levante, Seattle Sounders and Shanghai Shenhua.
