Ole Gunnar Solskjaer expected to continue as Manchester United manager despite heavy loss to Liverpool and Antonio Conte links

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to continue as Manchester United for now despite the 5-0 loss to Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday evening.

According to reports, while the inner circus of the club considers the result embarrassing, the focus is on improving despite the team picking up just one point in their last four games.

Manchester United face Tottenham and Manchester City in their next two Premier League matches and they also play Atalanta in the Champions League next week.

Reports claim that the club had already contacted former Chelsea and Inter Milan manager, Antonio Conte.

However, Sky Sports now understands that there has been no contact between the club and the Italian manager.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer while reacting to the loss against Liverpool said it is the darkest day of his managerial career.

Solksjaer admits that he is capable of delivering successes to the club;

“We’ve come too far as a group and we’re too close to give up now,” he said on Sunday. “I’ve heard nothing else [about a potential departure]. This is the lowest I’ve been, but as I’ve said, I accept the responsibility.”

“I do believe in myself, I do believe that I am getting close to what I want with the club, I think what we’ve done, what I’ve seen, the development, of course, the results lately haven’t been good enough. But I’ve got to keep strong and I do believe in what we’ve been doing, the coaching staff and the players.”

Manchester United are currently 7th on the log with 14 points after 9 games.
