As for the women’s competition, the Super Falcons were knocked out by Ivory Coast after a goalless draw away they could only muster a 1-1 draw in Lagos which led to their elimination while Zambia represent the continent.

The Super Falcons and the Dream Team’s failure to qualify for the competition is made worse with both the men’s and women’s senior basketball team D’Tigers and D’Tigress qualifying for the tournament despite the numerous amount of money and preferential treatment given to football in this country.
