Oneya, former NFA chairman, to be buried on Sept 10, 2021
The remains of the former chairman of the Nigeria Football Association (now Nigeria Football Federation), Brigadier General Dominic Obukadata Oneya (rtd) will be committed to mother earth on September 10, 2021 at his Ehwerhe Agbahroh residence in Delta state.
Oneya, born on May 26, 1948 passed away on August 5, 2021 at the age of 73.
According to a burial programme by the family, the former military administrator of Kano and Benue states will begin his final homeward journey on Wednesday September 8 with a vigil mass at the St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Effurun, Delta state.
On the 10th, his corpse will leave the mortuary for lying-in state at his residence at the GRA, Effurun by 8am.
Entertainment of guests will take place afterwards at Ehwerhe Grammar School while the burial programme will be rounded off with a thanksgiving Mass at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, GRA Effurun on Sunday, 12th September, 2021.
The late Oneya was chairman of the Nigeria Football Association from 1999 to 2002. Nigeria hosted the 1999 FIFA U20 World Cup during his term of office.
