Onuachu Powers Trabzonspor To Turkish Cup Glory

Paul Onuachu wrapped up a brilliant individual campaign as he powered Trabzonspor to victory in the Turkish Cup final.

It has been a brilliant season for the Super Eagles striker and he capped it in style on Friday night leading Trabzonspor to victory.

Paul Onuachu scored a brace including a trademark acrobatic effort to help Trabzonspor beat Konyaspor.

Onuachu put Trabzonspor ahead after 18 minutes with a sublime acrobatic effort off a measured Wagner Pino’s cross into the box.

DR Congo striker Jackson Muleka pounced on a loose ball to restore parity for Konyaspor a few minutes into the second half.

Konyaspor missed the chance to take the lead six minutes later as Enis Bardhi failed to convert a penalty kick.

Paul Onuachu didn’t replicate Bardhi’s missed penalty as he converted his 10 minutes from time to restore Trabzonspor’s lead.

The match ended 2-1 as Trabzonspor won their first Turkish Cup title since 2020 courtesy of Onuachu’s brace.

Anthony Nwakaeme and fast-rising defender Chibuike Nwaiwu also became winners in a farewell game for the former after six years.
