Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has endorsed his national team coach Jose Peseiro to continue as the head coach of the team amidst speculations of Emmanuel Amunike taking over as the new manager.
Osimhen said this during a chat with Wazobia Fm Lagos recently. The Napoli forward believes the Portuguese manager is tactically sound and knows what he is doing as the coach of the national team.
“The coach (Peseiro) is tactically sound and he is in control of the Super Eagles squad, which is very, very important,” Osimhen told Wazobia FM Radio Lagos. “He knows what he wants.”
Jose Peseiro, whose contract expired at the end of June, is currently out of contract which leaves the position of the coach of the Super Eagles open at the moment. Former Super Eagles forward/winger Emmanuel Amunike has been touted as one of the possible replacements for Peseiro if he doesn’t get a contract renewal from the Nigeria Football Federation.
Shehu Gusau, the president of the federation said the opinion of the public will be noted before any decision on Jose Peseiro is made in a recent chat with the media.
Jose Peseiro, the former Saudi Arabia national teams coach, qualified the Super Eagles for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire with a game to spare just like his predecessor, Gernot Rohr.
