OTD in 2012, Spain beat Italy 4-0 to win UEFA European Championship (video)

On July 1, 2012, Spain beat Italy 4-0 to win the UEFA European Championship.

Both sides meet in the group stage which ended 1-1 but the final was a masterclass by Spain.

They went ahead in the 14th minute from David Silva and the second was scored by Jordi Alba in the 41st minute to take a comfortable two-goal cushion at the halftime break.

Italy tried to fight back in the second half bt Fernando Torres sealed the result in the 84th minute with Spain’s third while Juan Mata scored the fourth in the 88th minute.

The game was played at the Olympic Stadium, Kyiv, Ukraine with 63,170 fans in attendance to see Spain win back to back championships.
