OTD in 2014 Messi became the highest goal scorer in the history of La Liga (video)
On November 22nd, 2014 Lionel Messi became the all-time highest goal scorer in the history of the Spanish La Liga.
The record previously was held by Telmo Zarra who had a total of 251 goals.
Messi broke the record in Barcelona’s win over Sevilla to get to 252 goals.
He scored a hattrick in the game and was lifted up by his teammates after breaking the record.
That was six years ago as now Messi has a total of 447 goals in the history of the competition.
