The first half ended goalless with both sides canceling each other out in a very closely contested encounter.
Germany would go in front at the start of the second half went Dzsenifer Marozsán converted in the 48th minute.
An own goal by Sweden’s Linda Sembrant gave Germany a two-goal lead in the 62nd minute.
Stina Blackstenius will pull one back for Sweden in the 67th minute.
Germany would hold on to get the win in front of 52,432 fans in attendance at the Maracanã, Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
