Peseiro Congratulates Rivers United After CAF Confederation Cup Win

Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro has congratulated Nigerian Premier League Football club Rivers United following their CAF Confederation Cup 2-0 over Etoile Filante at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Sunday, October 1.

The game was tension-soaked as fans started trooping outside the stadium after the Rivers United missed two penalties during the match.

Alex Oyowah scored the first goal of the game in the 89th minute and he concerted a penalty one minute later to make it 2-0.

The first leg of the tie finished 0-0 two weeks ago at the Stade Muncipal Yamoussoukro.

Rivers United have now qualified for the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup with the aggregate win.

Peseiro went on his personal X (formerly known as Twitter) handle to hail the Pride of Rivers following their achievement.

“Congratulations to Rivers United on making it to the CAF Confederation Cup group stage. Best of luck in the competition!,” he wrote.

Rivers United reached the quarter-final stage of the CAF Confederation Cup last season.

Next Up for Rivers United is their first NPFL game of the season against Niger Tornadoes on Sunday, October 8 at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium.
