Mary Katambi, one of the girls kidnapped from the Chibok area of Borno State in 2014 has bagged a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the American University of Nigeria, Yola, the capital of Adamawa State.
She was one of the 276 girls kidnapped from Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS), Chibok in Borno state, by the Boko Haram terror group in 2014.
Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria’s former Vice President and founder of the school took to his Twitter page to share pictures and congratulate her on her achievement.
“Mary Katambi, I’m proud that seven years after your release from Boko Haram captivity, you’ve beaten the odds to graduate with a degree in accounting from the American University of Nigeria. The best years are still ahead of you,” Atiku captioned the photos.
Mary, who donned her graduation was flanked by the President of the African Development Bank, Akinwunmi Adesina, and Atiku in some of the pictures.
