The Black Stars of Ghana put out a brave performance as they lost 3-2 to the Selecao of Portugal today, November 24 at Stadium 974 in a mouth-watering encounter.
Cristiano Ronaldo had a goal in the 31st minute but it was disallowed for a foul.
Mohammed Kudus almost scored in the 50th minute as his shot went just wide. Aidu Seidu was yellow carded for a head butt on Joao Felix subsequently.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored a penalty kick in the 65th minute to give Portugal the lead becoming the first player to score in five World Cups in the process.
Ghana captain Andre Ayew equalised in the 74th minute, with a right footed finish from a Mohammed Kudus pass.
However Joao Felix restored Portugal’s lead in the 78th minute, substitute Rafael Leao extended A Selecao’s lead a few minutes later.
Osman Bakari gave the Ghanaians a glimmer of hope after making 3-2 via a header in the closing stages of the game.
Ghana play South Korea next on November 28 at the Education City Stadium.
