Presidency hints Twitter ban may be lifted soon
There is an update on the ban of microblogging site Twitter in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration on Friday, June 4th banned the operation of Twitter in Nigeria.
This was made public through a statement by Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed.
Garba Shehu the Senior Special Assistant, Media, and Publicity to the President revealed that the ban on Twitter was not based on the fact that the microblogging site deleted a tweet sent by Buhari.
The statement then hinted that the ban on Twitter may be temporary.
Part of the statement by the President says, “The temporary suspension of Twitter is not just a response to the removal of the President’s post.”
