Reactions as NYSC camps nationwide shutdown due to Coronavirus outbreak
Corp members across the country woke up to the news that they had to leave camp due to precautionary measures against the Coronavirus outbreak.
Minister of Youth and Sports Development Sunday Dare revealed early on Wednesday, March 18th that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) will have to leave their respective mandatory 21 day camp period and go to their Primary assignment.
The information by the Minister was revealed on his official Twitter handle. The official statemnet said, “Today across the country, the NYSC Orientation camps will be closed and Youth Corpers will be paid and sent to their places of primary assignment. This again is a precautionary measure on D part of the government to check the spread of COVID-19. The DG NYSC will provide details.”
To most Corp members, the 21 day camp period is the most interesting aspect of NYSC and took to social media to voice their displeasure about its cancellation.
